Ever trust your GPS to get you somewhere, only to wind up in the middle of a field, parking lot, or residential neighborhood instead of the steakhouse it promised it was leading you to? Disappointing. You swear you’re going to get a better GPS or download the latest maps or something.
The problem is the steakhouse is out there somewhere, and it is possible to get there. You just used the wrong method to decipher the steps that would lead you there. Instead of driving to your destination, it turns out you were just driving. Sometimes you double your efforts and find it before it closes. Other times you settle for a burrito from the 7-Eleven. There are times when you return home hungry.
I think life can be like that. The Apostle Paul spoke of running the race and being near his prize. I’ve thought I was in the right race at times, even approaching the prize, only to discover I wasn’t running a race at all. I was just running around. At least I can enjoy the cruising music.
